This sample agenda provides an example of how two days devoted to assessing, shaping and
managing team dynamics in a manner that establishes a productive work environment, delivers
high performance, and fosters creative ideas. This session can also be successfully collapsed into
a shorter, one-day workshop. For any workshop, GSI works closely with our clients to understand
the needs and expectations of the audience and tailors the agenda accordingly.

These two days are built around Performance in the Team Environment. Key takeaways are:

Day One: Team Leadership

  • Decision Making in Teams: Self Assessment 3
11:00– 12:30 p.m. Skills Development (Small group work)
Working with four pre-identified team concepts. The objective is to compare individual and group decision making, to better understand when to use a group to make decisions. Each member will answer ~ 20 questions and then analyze the results. The group breaks into small groups. Drawing on the leadership principles discussed during the first half of the day, each group will determine whether the strategy would be effective supported by situational experieinces.

1:30 – 2:00 p.m. Creating Winning Strategies, Part 2: Video Case (Presentation)
  • Teamwork in Organizations
  • Strategy assessment
2:00 – 3:15 p.m. Break
3:00 – 3:30 p.m. Assessing Strategy (Small group work)
Each group performs a detailed assessment of their strategy. Each group prepares a brief summary of the assessed strategy to present to the large group.
3:15 – 3:30 p.m. Break
3:30 – 4:00 p.m. Opportunity Reporting (Large group discussion)
Each group presents the opportunity, confirming the type of innovation, how the tool helped the team think differently, and the key assumptions made.
4:00 – 4:30 p.m. Wrap-up of the Day (Presentation and discussion)
4:30 p.m. Adjourn



Day Two: Self-Managed Teams (SMT)
9:00 – 9:30 a.m. Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Going (Presentation and discussion)
  • Road map and goals for today
  • Question and answer session on concepts/issues covered during previous day
9:30 – 10:15 a.m. Creating Winning Strategies, Part 3: Effective SMTs (Presentation)
Developing plans to identify, implement and improve SMTs
10:15 – 10:30 a.m. Break
10:30 – 12:00 p.m. Creating a Plan to Learn: Case Studies (Small group work)
Groups break out to examine selected Case Studies. Teams will test assumptions they’ve made during the previous small group work, identify strategies for testing them, and prioritize what should be tested and when. Teams should prepare a summary report that includes the major assumptions that need to be tested, and the 3-5 immediate next steps to enhance the effort.
12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Lunch
1:00 – 1:30 p.m. Group Reporting (Large group discussion)
Each team presents the comparative strategies to be addressed, how they can test them and the next steps they would need to take to start implementing the strategy.
2:15 – 2:30 p.m. Break
2:30 – 3:45 p.m. Organizational Enablers of Leadership (Presentation and discussion)
Principles for developing a culture and process to encourage and improve effective team managment are presented and the group discusses what it will need to do to act on them.
3:45 – 4:00 p.m. Summary of Two Days and Adjourn
